About Loan EMI in Nepal
EMI (Equated Monthly Installment) is the fixed monthly payment made to repay a loan. In Nepal, all commercial bank lending rates are linked to the NRB base rate. As of April 2026, commercial bank base rates range from 4.25% (RBB) to 6.25% (NIC Asia), with an NRB-reported average of ~6.34%. Home loans currently range from 5.15% to 9.49%, vehicle loans from 5.57% to 9.25%, education loans from 5.06% to 9%, and business/SME loans from 5.57% to 10%. The EMI formula is: EMI = P × r × (1+r)^n / ((1+r)^n - 1), where P is principal, r is monthly interest rate, and n is number of months.
Rate data sourced from: Everest Bank (eff. 14 Apr 2026), NIC Asia Bank (eff. 15 Jan 2026), Global IME Bank (eff. 14 Apr 2026), and bankbyaj.com aggregator (updated 28 Apr 2026). Rates are floating and change monthly with the bank's base rate. Always verify directly with your bank.
